Valencia Marathon Confirmed: A Beacon of Hope Amidst Adversity

The Valencia Marathon has officially been confirmed, and it’s shaping up to be more than just a race. This year, the event carries an even deeper significance as it becomes a powerful aid to those affected by the devastating floods in the region. Organisers have emphasised how the marathon will serve as a platform for unity and recovery.

From donation drives to awareness campaigns, several initiatives are in place to support the flood victims. Race organisers have pledged portions of proceeds to relief efforts, while local businesses involved in the marathon are stepping up to provide direct aid to those in need. The event also serves as a reminder of the resilience and strength of the community. As the organisers aptly stated:

"Celebrating the Valencia Marathon is our way of saying that together, as a society, we can overcome any obstacle. We know that running means health, and it also means hope."

Hearing the official announcement sparked something in me—I’ve found a renewed sense of motivation to chase that elusive sub-3-hour goal. While I may not be in peak physical shape to achieve it, my mindset is ready for the inevitable post-35km battle.

The Wild West of Airbnb Adventures

In the midst of all this, we’ve had a logistical hurdle to clear. For the third time, our Airbnb booking was canceled, leaving us scrambling to find new accommodation. It feels like Airbnb is becoming a bit of a Wild West these days, with reliability seemingly hit or miss. Thankfully, we’ve managed to secure a new place, but it’s certainly added an extra layer of stress to our preparations.

Back on YouTube: Finding Joy in the Community

After a summer break, I’m back on YouTube and have been overwhelmed by the positive response to my return. Hearing from viewers who not only enjoy the content but also feel inspired to start their own running journeys is a awesome to hear. Sharing my highs, lows, and everything in between is part of what makes this running journey so special, and I’m grateful to connect with such a supportive community.

Wrapping Up Peak Training

Peak training is officially in the books, and I’m entering the final tapering phase. This is where the mileage and intensity gradually decrease, giving the body time to recover and prepare for race day. It’s always a bit of a mental challenge to slow down after weeks of hard effort, but it’s a necessary part of ensuring I’m fresh and ready to give it my all on marathon day.

Malaga Marathon: Further Misery

In an unexpected twist, I’ve learned that the Malaga Marathon, which I had considered as a potential backup race, might also be at risk of cancellation due to severe flooding caused by recent storms. Southern and eastern Spain seem to be bearing the brunt of some bad luck lately, and my thoughts are with everyone affected.
